About my Journey
HELLO!
I am Josh, a soon to be IT graduate with a strong interest in Digital Forensics and Information Security. I enjoy hands on problem solving and learning through action.
During my time studying, I focused on Cyber Security topics such as Digital Forensics, Information Security and Linux Administration. My Capstone Project pushed me into unfamiliar territoryand taught me how to build, integrate and refine a system from the ground up.

My Academic Journey
1. Level 4 Certificate in IT Essentials
2022
I started my studies part time while working full time. This Certificate was an ideal starting point as many topics were introduced including programming, networking, hardware servicing and project management.
2. Level 5 Diploma in IT Technical Support
2023
The next step was either to transfer into the Degree programme or to move into a Diploma. I chose to work on the Diploma as there was more of a focus on directly applicable real world skills and a larger focus on practical engagement. Many more topics were introduced in this year, including database administration, server management, and introducing IT technical support.
3. Bachelors of IT majoring in Cyber Security
2024 - 2025
I always knew I wanted to get a degree and the previous Diploma allowed me to transfer directly into my second year for the Bachelors. The following 2 years I focused on Cyber Security topics. Some key areas of study involved Linux administration, Information security, and Penetration testing.
4. Graduation
2026 - Ongoing
I will be graduating in April and am currently looking for work in my desired field.

Working Background
I’ve gained working experience across several industries, each one teaching me something different about responsibility, communication, and handling pressure. My first full‑time job was in fast food, where I eventually became a crew trainer responsible for training new staff and maintaining safety standards. I worked there from 2016 to 2019 before deciding it was time to pursue new opportunities.
That same year, I completed a security course, earned my COA, and began working as a security guard. My first site placed me in a carpark, where I helped manage traffic flow and reduce vehicle break‑ins. Thanks to my previous experience in fast‑paced environments and training roles, I quickly became the de‑facto team leader. After several months, I was moved into a more public‑facing position at the same site, just after the initial 2020 lockdown. My responsibilities shifted to maintaining social distancing, supporting general security, and representing the client to thousands of customers each day. During this time, I also completed first aid training and obtained a Level 1 traffic controller licence.
I left this role at the beginning of 2021 and joined a different security company later that year. I worked across a range of environments, including banks, corporate offices, and hospitals. It was during this period that I realised I wanted something different. I regretted not finishing my studies back in 2014–2015, and after some research, I decided to enrol at WelTec’s School of IT. While studying, I continued working as a permanent guard at a data centre — a role I still hold today while developing my personal projects and building my technical skills.

Hobbies
Outside of work, I really value my free time. I enjoy hobbies that let me think in different ways or experience something new.
I like building computers — everything from researching parts to that first successful boot and the inevitable troubleshooting that follows. It’s a process I find both satisfying and mentally engaging.
I also play video games with friends, mostly PvP or PvE RPGs, which is a fun way to stay connected and unwind.
When I want something quieter, I enjoy going for walks and listening to music. Taking time to switch off and clear my head is an important part of how I recharge.
I enjoy playing a card game called Weiss Schwarz. I like the strategic side of it — building decks, testing ideas, and refining them through trial and error until they feel consistent and competitive.
I also enjoy watching professional wrestling. I like the mix of active storytelling and long‑term planning, and I find it fun to analyse where the story might go from a business perspective. Because the outcomes are predetermined, it becomes a different kind of puzzle — trying to predict what will happen within a given timeframe based on booking patterns, character arcs, and company decisions.
